Spring Barley.
Spring Barley is usually grown on our farm following late lifted Sugar Beet where the drilling of the more usual Winter Wheat is not possible or uneconomic due to the lateness of lifting of the proceeding crop. Our Barley often is often sold for Malting ie for use in the brewing industry or for use in making Vinegar. If it doesn’t reach the full specification for use in the malting industry then it will be sold for use as an animal feed. The aim with all our cereal crops including Barley is to sell at harvest or very soon after to minimise storage costs.
